How to Play Avalanche
Avalanche is a board game for 2-6 players in which players roll marbles down an inclined plastic board, hitting gates that can either “open” or “close”. If the marble hits a closed gate, it will stop. If it hits an open gate, it will continue but will change the direction of the gate from left to right or right to left. If a gate that was holding a marble changes direction, the marble will drop down its chute, possibly hitting other gates and potentially starting a chain reaction as those gates release other marbles.
Basic Rules:
- Each player chooses a color of marble and takes all of the marbles of that color.
- The game board is set up with the gates in random positions.
- On your turn, roll one of your marbles down the chute at the top of the board.
- If your marble hits a gate, follow the rules for that gate:
- If the gate is open, your marble will continue down the board and the gate will change direction.
- If the gate is closed, your marble will stop.
- If your marble hits another marble, both marbles will stop.
- Your turn ends when all of your marbles have stopped moving.
- The first player to get rid of all of their marbles wins the game.
Variations:
- Expert Game: In Expert Game, players start with 11 marbles each and the object of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all of their marbles.
- Team Game: Avalanche can also be played as a team game. In this variation, players are divided into two teams and each team tries to get rid of all of their marbles before the other team.
Tips:
- Try to roll your marbles in a way that will hit as many gates as possible.
- Be careful not to hit any other marbles with your own marbles.
- If you are playing the Expert Game, try to get rid of your marbles as quickly as possible.
- If you are playing the Team Game, communicate with your teammates and coordinate your attacks.
Avalanche is a fun and challenging game for all ages. With its simple rules and exciting gameplay, it is sure to be a hit with everyone who plays it.
